Awesome RS2 handbrake

The handbrake on the RS2 used to be pretty lousy, to put it mildly. However, after being cleaned, lubed and adjusted, it works like a charm
Cleaned corrosion off the area of the backplate that the side of the pads slides against,put a thin layer of Plastilube there as well. Got a feeling that many forget to do that. Adjusted so it grabs at the second click and completely locks at the fourth click. Will see how long it stays in adjustment, but works exceedingly properly as of right now

My handbrake also works like a treat. Not sure how long it will last though!

mine too.4th click does the job,but i usually am less harsh and use 3clicks and a gear!

I always place it in 1st gear as well.
So you finally got your handbrake sorted out?

oh yes,it was the 1st thing i fixed when i bough the car.New cables,new pads on the drumlike surfaces,new mechanicms and it works.Only thing is that every 10000kms it needs tightening.oh well...

Aha. Seem to remember that you struggled with it (talked about an aux caliper for handbrake duty)

yes at first i wanted to do that,but only i the original one failed in nootime.So far so good..drastic measures can wait i guess

Don't adjust it to tight. Brake shoes are "selfapplying" so if they touch the drum they will start to brake and quickly wear out. BTDT....

Able to lock up the rear wheels on dy ground now... (not very healthy for the drivetrain, though..)
