thats exactly what i was thinking martin, might have to rethink the disc strategy if that is the case.

Greg, ive just measured my spare hub, the measurement from the hub face (disk mounting face) to the bracket mounting 'lugs' is 55mm so i'd say the hat height cant be more than 52-53mm probably less, cant find what the height of the S8 disk is i'm using though.

Looks like the merc disc idea is gonna be out of the window at this rate. Have you any measurements on how far the lugs stick out from the strut in relation to the centre line of the hub?

The measurements you took were from flat face of the mount on the strut to the lugs?

From the dealer they are 67.14+VAT each but I can get them a bit cheaper than that.

I got the car up on a jack just now and those merc discs are def out of the window because the hat will be too deep for the lugs the calipers mount onto. :-(

Might just be done with it and get the ally bells and discs from AP.

I bought Dave's (Cossykillers) kit - discs are 355mm I think, so dread to think what they'll cost when they need doing. *shrug* Just another bundle of twenties to throw onto the raging inferno that is my car....

lol, i think that is the story for a lot of us mate. If they are £120 each that doesnt sound too bad, sure you can get them cheaper by going somewhere other than AMD. You got them fitted yet?

The brakes are with 'da brake guru' Corey - be a week or so before they go on - *just* in time for the mot, I hope... Anything's got to be better than my 'wet cardboard' brakes setup I have at the moment... Will keep you posted - hoping for something resembling Lee's legendary setup.

Next year, when rotors (hopefully, not before) need doing, I'll buy some 19s and put bigger ones on.

You won't need bigger brakes than these, 355x36mm on an S2 will be fine. As it is when these are applied your paint is going to fall off quicker.

I took the plunge with the Merc discs and gave them a try. BUT they dont fit so im gonna have to take em back. AS i thought might be the case the hat height is too big and if they were 10mm shallower i reckon they would fit.

anyway back to the drawing board on that one....
