Clive you are correct when you say that the rs2 hard line replaces the caliper flexi and the short hardline (round the back of the strut). The caliper doesn't move in use, unlike the standard one which slides, and the pads are removed from the back of it. You only have to take them off to do the discs. So uncrack them and re-bleed the system when you change the discs will get round that issue.

@Paul & BRY - many thanks for the clarification (and confirmation that I'm not going mad!)
So basically, the RS2 hardline is the only thing that's needed if you're not going to also replace the flexi line that goes from the strut to the chassis?
I know you guys know exactly what you're talking about, but I fail to understand how the caliper doesn't move when the wheel is turned, but then anyone who knows me will know that I fall into the category of 'mechanically challenged'...

Vagparts tell me that this is to replace the stock flexi which runs from the chassis to the strut (and connects to the stock short hardline). The description on their site seems to be a bit misleading.
I have a pair on the way next week (despite being told they were in stock when I ordered them last Wednesday...

I am a bit late on this and you seem to have sorted it all out, but I can confirm that the VAGparts supplied RS2 flexi line plus the RS2 hard line fits perfectly on an S2 and works very nicely thank you.

Hi Si
I agree with you to a point, I have just fitted this set up myself.
The RS2 hard line/flexi works and fits very well however, from a maintenance point of view its crap as every time you need to remove the disc/pads the hydraulic system has to be disconnected/reconnected and bled for this reason next time I'm working in that area I will consider flexi lines right to the calliper.
Just my 2 pence worth
cheers
And yes grooved/drilled discs are totally unnecessary

feeling kind of stupid today.....
so can I ask a daft question?......does the braided line need to be 700mm??!?!...or is it the dimensions Jas suggested about right....
i am in the process of sorting out a set of hoses for my brake up grade....the dilema of do I use one line or go with chasis to strut braided, hard line around strut and then braided from strut to caliper....it's all getting crazy in the old noggin'......and now I am thinking about braided for my rear upgrade!!....time for the faithful search box!!!!...
any advice/opinions etc are truly appreciated.....
Thanks
