    996 Install review

All in all not a bad job to do, used the following:

    996 calipers
    Rs2 brackets(vag parts)
    Rs2 bolt set (vag parts)
    Flex line (vag parts)
    Rs2 hardline (vag parts)
    323mm discs
    textar standard pads

Works very well, only problem I encountered was not having the torque settings for the carrier to hub bolt so I did this up very tight, as per original and managed to stretch the bolts
I have come to the conclusion that I am super human in strength as I did this with a 3/8 drive ratchet

The torque settings for these is 115NM ? can anybody confirm ?

I have now gone back the original Audi bolts but reduced there length by 10mm.
I prefer these as they are a shouldered bolt.

Picking up a new pad fitting kit as the spring plates the calipers came with are looking tiered.

I'm very pleased with the performance of this set up so far

And the trusty gunson easibleed worked a treat to

    cheers

i thought that the 996 monoblocks had different configuration for the rs2 mounting brackets.Does this mean that someone already using the RS2 big red (rs car) calipers can switch to 996 monoblocks just by getting the calipers?

There is some debate as to whether the rs2 bracket spaces the caliper out radially by enough distance, I as others do, say there is.
Other choice is add a spacer or machine seat brackets but these are now £105 each.

            cheers

But all above is true only for S2 with A8 discs. I doubt that you can put big red with a8 discs and rs2 carriers.

can some one mesure the distance from the centre of the disc to the centre of the caliper mounting bolts all in place fitted . for the 996 and big red set ups that way we should be able to tell if the they are interchangeable i would of thought it can only be the off set on the disc that would alter things

having fitted both rs2 reds and 996 callipers to all my s2's i can say that the rs2 carriers will bolt straight on with both types of callipers. With the carrier,i used spacers and re-used the original bolts and all is fine.
Both callipers i have had have had 323mm discs. the only pain being the hoses. HTH
