Brake upgrade kit for s2 315mm or 330mm

What do you guys think of these?

Have had a word with the guy this morning, and its possible to sort out a forum group buy, as advertised on there website, not sure of the discounts yet though..

this is the kits available (2 kits 1 for 16" wheels and 1 for 17" wheels)

they both use the same 4 pot billet calipers 38.1mm pistons (*1.5")

    the 16" kit comes with;
    2 x 4 pot calipers
    2 x alloy brake bells
    2 x rotors (315mm)
Hawk brake pads for both calipers
    2 x conversion brackets (carrier)
    all bolts for conversion

    the 17" kit comes with;
    2 x 4 pot calipers
    2 x alloy brake bells
    2 x rotors (330mm)
Hawk brake pads for both calipers
    2 x conversion brackets (carrier)
    all bolts for conversion

am thinking about ordering a set, see what they come out like, look like very good quality!

Why the custom rotors out of interest?

You can use the OEM A8 314mm and 323mm discs with rs2 / seat brackets and it keeps the cost down

the problem is trying to find the parts

are the RS2 and seat backets the same, or do i need one for 314 and the other for 323? whats the part no and cost for either? and do they need modifying? and what calipers, i cant seem to find the right brembo caliper, and then what brake hose do i use?

Part no.s for the A8 discs, or atleast a model/year they are from?

Buts thats going to be approx twice as much as the regular 996 monobloc upgrade! Those pistons are also smaller than the monoblocs which means less comparative clamping force.
The other issue is what about getting replacement parts. For example how much would it cost to replace one disc? Do they have stock?
Replacement parts for the monobloc conversion will be stocked by ECP and GSF not to mention both Audi and Porsche!
Really this is one area where not much thought is needed! You cannot beat the monobloc upgrade in price and availability. So unless your only desire is to be different I can't see the justification. Think that was more or less the advice in your previous posts!

Long term the Monoblock route will be cheaper as the disc and pads are off the shelf from Audi / GSF / ECP

Twoqu is saying what we're thinking

Im not interested in being different, I know the 996 upgrade is tried and tested, and i like that fact, it really is just about ease of finding the right parts and getting them!

would be much easier if there was a list of Part no's so i knew exactly what i was looking for, there seems to be shed loads of different porsche calipers available

my real problem is i need the parts now, as ive got a binding front brake and i use the car daily just dont have the time the mess around looking for parts and then discovering ive bought the wrong ones

my goodness mate there are threads upon threads of this, there is a sticky guide with all part numbers required.

And the calipers are ten a penny I've seen 9 sets go in 2 weeks on ebay.

Then you have users like Bry and Andyp who can also source calipers and brackets

if running 17" 323mm with a small 1 mm spacer will work nicely

I think the advantage with the custom rotors would be that they weigh a lot less than the A8/S8 discs and are high performance in terms of cooling.
i weighed my 323 A8 discs when i did my 996 upgrade an the were over 10 kg each . Thats over 2kg heavier than my feckin 18" wheels (superleggera of course), ive been looking at an alternative rotor hat combo since then that doesn't cost the earth.
I might see what sort of price he can do a hat+rotor combo with the right offset for us lot who have the 996 upgrade.

Porsche 996 Carrera 2 (2wd) fronts are the same as Boxster S fronts.
Only difference is colour, black for the 996, red for the Boxster (silver used on some special edition Boxsters, but few and far between)
                          2001 Avus Silver B5 RS4.
                          2004 A4 Avant 1.8T quattro Sport-LE.
                          1995 S2 Coupe - sold (sniff)
