8Pot solution in a different way...

    hi,

let´s have a look on the pictures:

Special MTM/Hohenester/SMS Wheel bearing carriers for HP2 brake on the S2, in comparism to the orig. S2/RS2:

    perfectly fitting RS4 B7 carrier:

amazing difference between the sizes of the caliper and the wheel bearing carriers:

    all mounted:

    and on the car:

    list of parts needed:

-special HP2 wheel bearing carriers (which are sadly anywhere no longer available, because i´ve bought the last set of those)

    -phaeton hats

-original rs4 b7 calipercarrier little bit modified

    -rs4 brake discs

-rs2 metall brake line ( fits perfectly )

    -rs4 b7 calipers

    -s2/rs2 wheel bearing

-rs6 wheel hub little bit modified

and everything fits perfectly. the calipers is perfectly working on the brake discs.

    hope you enjoyed it

that's some pretty nice brake porn you've got there, will not fit in a 17'' wheel I guess?

      hi,

no they 17inch rims won´t fit. i´m now having another problem -- on the front the original 16inch spare wheel won´t fit either...

and change wheels from the rear to the front isn´t possible either. RS6 in 8,5x18 ET30 on the rear and 8,5x18 ET20 on the front... before the big black bad brake the rims were otherwise mounted, means the rs4 on the back and the rs6 ones on the front.

problem is the rs6 wheel hub on the front.. i´m having there less 10mm offset in comparism to the S2 wheel hub. means the ET30 would contact the suspension, the et20 rims don´t, there is now an effective ET30 on the front... this was the reason why i changend rims front the front to the back...

      cheers

That looks... incredible. I would not fancy the cost of new discs and/or pads though!

And as all (brake) porn should be: just that slightly unobtainable to make it more desirable.

RS6 hubs and S2 hubs have the same splines on the driveshafts? Hmmz interesting...

                    hi guys,

                    NO, i´m not mad. hehe..

the prices in germany: RS4 Discs a pair: ~800Euro, RS4 brake pads ~400Euro, Phaeton Brake Discs ~450Euro.

                    wheel carriers at Hohenester ~1200Euro

                    Discs are 365x34mm

@Bry: well done. ;-) There is a part number on the bearing houses because the bearing houses are original from audi. there are the Audi-Rings on it, 257A and 258A. Audi never produced those bearing houses for the cars but they developed the form for them. Hohenester and MTM bought the form for the bearing houses and everybody made 100sets of those wheel carriers. means there had been all in all 400 pieces of those wheel bearing houses.

this is exactly what alfons hohenester told me.

                    @quattro 84

yes, RS6 hubs are exactly the same concerning the drive shaft and the wheel bearing. also from A8 4.2 D2...

Interesting to see what might have been! Guess these carriers were used on the MTM RSR as well then!
The S cars were seriously underbraked until the HP2's were stuck on the S4/6. I wonder if thats why the Avus wheels appeared on the S2 as there was hardly a need for the increased clearance as the brakes remained the same throughout the production.
Wonder what else was in the development pipeline that didn't make it into production.
                      Thanks for the info!

Yes, you´re right. These carriers are on the red MTM RSR car.

Luckily i could get the complete exhaust system of the red MTM RSR. Now it´s fitted under my car. ;-)

Hi Wolfgang, a very interesting insight into what could/should have been for the S2, thankyou for sharing. Do you have any pics and details of the exhaust system you have fitted?

Very nice Wolfi! I'm sure Alfons has another set of those bearing carriers on that old black S2 race car under the cover in the back.

Looking forward to seeing them in person next week.

                              hi tom,

no definetely not. ( if we´re talking about the S2 race car from his son, jürgen. )

There are special audi-sport parts, but we can talk about that on friday next week. I think i can show you these parts (wheel bearing houses etc) in real. My chief at work has got some of those rare parts lying around. With audi part number, but the part number starts with S...........

perhaps, if you´re going to fly to Munich, we can visit Alfons. He still has to look at my brakes. I told him about my 8pot-plans and he said that i´m completely crazy furthermore he told me that the HP2 Brake on the S2 is brake enough...

                              couldn´t believe that...

                              PS: Munich or Stuttgart?
