what size alloys, disks etc are you using??

Are they ceramics? Sparking would be worrying me if they aren't!!!

Is this the ultimate BOLT-ON upgrade ?

Where do the RS2 calipers stand in terms of stopping power compared to Porsche 996 or Porsche Big Reds...?? And anyone got ideas of costs?
Use LONG caliper bolts and space out with washers - Oh and before anyone says, "washers? are you mad!?"...Think about it.....as long as the bolts are torqued up to spec then using washers will not cause any problems....

314mm discs, machined Seat Ibiza Cupra Carriers and 996 calipers (996.351.425/6) go under 16" avus wheels all day long.
The RS2 brackets are a half way house between the ideal for the 323mm and the 314mm disc. They are really on the limit for the 323mm disc and they overhang the 314mm disc.
Due to the increase in price of the Seat bracket it is now uneconomical to buy and machine them to suit our application. It is cheaper to have them made from scratch.

Have we just gone full circle ?

Two bolt-on options then with 16" Avus

1 - 314mm disc from A8, custom carriers (cheaper than modded Seat) and 996 monoblocks (adapted for 30mm disc)

            2 - 323mm disc from S8, RS2 carriers and RS2/968 calipers

Is that about right then ?

1 - Yes - although some people run 323mm discs and don't have issues, others have had issues.

2- I have never done anything with RS2 calipers (apart from sold a brand new set) so I can't comment. Having been offered various sets second hand that were absolutely fubarred, I decided that I didn't want to deal with the corrosion issue that they suffer from. Monoblocks rule

I didnt think the 323mm would fit under 16" alloys.

They do, but it is tight. Stick on wheel weights are not allowed. The bracket has to be just right.

Could you tell the difference between 314mm discs and 323mm discs? I never had any complaints with either.

Indeed, I guess that braking performance is more likely to be affected by a knackered bomb, pad choice, old fluid & lines etc. than by an extra 4.5mm radius of disc...
