The 6 spokes are made by Speedline too. Just wanted to check as I seem to remember that the 5 spokes have worse clearance issues than the 6.

This was my setup courtesy of BRY (machined Seat brackets, no spacers etc.), not able to give wheel to calliper clearance as I sold the 16s a while ago, the radial clearance is plenty big enough (as can be seen). From memory, the axial clearance was in the 5-10mm region.

      I stand corrected...

With regard to the seat brackets... Seen as these are now twice the price of the Bambridge brackets I don't see why peeps keep harping back to them.....

We agree that they do fit....

BUT the question asked in the thread orginally was about currently fitting 996 calipers with 6 spoke 16" avus alloys... Without having to get parts machined or turned... & I think this matter has now been covered...

I wish this thread had been written before I started doing my upgrade as I could have saved myself a grand on alloys & new treads.... Not That I would change them now!!!

Might be worth cleaning up the thread and putting it up as a sticky... For new members to see what current items are on the market for them to be able to do the upgrade with the afore mentioned alloys....

A set of custom made brackets for this kit would be a great for those starting from scratch and also because, as you mention, the Seat brackets are now no longer financially feasible. Annoyingly I only had my calliper carriers off last week but they're now loctited on and not coming off in a hurry Custom brackets should address the fact that the bolts that attach the carriers to the hubs had too much stick through due to machining the faces to fit, it's not much but enough, this meant that the bolts had to be ground down.

remember when on the corrado you could get the brackets, 4 pots and discs for 350 brand new from the dealer. pads were included in the caliper.

the leon was always more than the ibiza as had the 323 and bigger caliper IIRC.

the bolt grind is normal on a vw. i had to do the same on the willwoods i fitted over the brembo. they caught on the bolt edges on the 2 piece willwood discs. i missed the boat on the cheap cost and seat went x2 on the cost.

Kev aka Bambridge is now doing a "Slimeline" bracket that will do this job.... No machining needs to be done....

The bolts that Kev supplied with my brackets also had to be angle grinded down when attached to the leg... but we did not Loctite them on as my Mechanic said there was no need as he torqued them up (Dont ask to what - I dont know) and he was happy with them at that...

The Caliper bolts to the bracket was also just torqued up as Kev said that the brackets have those hexil thingy's (the tread thing) in them...

A little tip for everyone, if you ever need to undo a bolt thats been loctited in, use a little heat from a blowtouch, this melts the hardened loctite and the bolt/nut comes out easier
just make sure you have a bucket of water handy.

They're 85Nm, having had one fall out on the way home from a track day (properly torqued when fitted) I don't fancy taking any risks so now they're 85Nm + loctite.

Cheers for the tip there Kev

                        Hi Rocco,

I thought your first post said that they couldn't be fitted... I didn't realise you were infact asking the question... Sorry mate.... Lost in Translation I Think

I dont know TBH.... But if yoy have a 3B alloy and take the internal meaurement centrally across the mounting plate I will compare it to my Avus 6 Spokes for you and we may be able to work it out from that.... If that helps you M8...

It was me who posted that, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 5 spokes were tighter but haven't looked at it myself as I had 6 spoke. You could get some 6 spokes for £100 a set so it's not a massive problem, unless you have to keep the 5 spokes for the look... in that case you might need to use either spacers or have the brackets and discs machined to clear, or use something like the TT callipers a la Dest. HTH

By using the 'search' function I've found a few things:-

standard alloys // the pads were eating through a set of discs each set they were very coarse... changed to a softer pad and now get through two pad sets per disc.
they wasnt ceramic but must have been some metal content in the pads, Hawk Nas car pads only before,,
