Do you know 'crisarc' on classic audi forum? He bought spinks car and swapped all the parts, brakes and RR engine etc onto his black 200Q treser.

I don't, but I'm registered on that forum so I can give him a PM.
The brakes that you used (996.351.425/6 monoblocs) , was this on the 100Q with the S4 discs?.Comment

Ive never done a rear conversion as such. An uprated pad with grooved disks maybe. How much hp will you be running? Depends what you will be using the car for really. Any trackdays?
If i ever get another S2 (coupe of course) i'd really like to use brembo handbrake calipers with 996 or similar monobloc on the rear and make a bracket to hold the 2.

Initial target is 400BHP and yes definately trackdays.Ive never done a rear conversion as such. An uprated pad with grooved disks maybe. How much hp will you be running? Depends what you will be using the car for really. Any trackdays?

I take it that the 996's can also be fitted to the rears on a UR as well then?
PS I like the idea of that brembo handbrake as well.Comment

Yes it could be done but the problem is the handbrake. Im not that clued up with UR rear brakes but there is a documented conversion on the forum for the rear of the S2 using A8/S8 rear parts i believe. I will have a search. Dont know if something similar could be used on a UR.Comment

In theory the bigger the front brakes the smaller/less effective you want the rears as the bigger front brakes will make the car nose dive more removing weight from the rear. As a consequence the rear will lock more easily even with standard rear brakes.Yes it could be done but the problem is the handbrake. If you go bigger than standard rears particularly with a nose heavy Ur you will need to start fitting bias valves reducing there efficiency which begs the question of why fit them at all...Comment

Yes, cant say i've ever seen a rear brake conversion on a UR, didnt even realise that RR rear disks were a bigger size. Like i say i never had much experience with ur rear brakes. In theory the bigger the front brakes the smaller/less effective you want the rears as the bigger front brakes will make the car nose dive more removing weight from the rear. That makes sense Mr Jones - thanks. Think I'll leave the WR rears as is for present. Suppose I could always update to RR calipers if I felt it necessary at a later date.In theory the bigger the front brakes the smaller/less effective you want the rears as the bigger front brakes will make the car nose dive more removing weight from the rear. Having said that the car has been off the road for 5 years so they're probably seized on anyway. If this is the case it wil be a good time to replace/upgrade to RR rears.
I've more or less decided now on:
1. Front 996's (996.351.425/6 monoblocs).
2. Custom made carriers via Kev Bambridge.
3. Sport Quattro or S4 321mm front discs.
4. Goodridge metal braided hoses.
5. Ferodo DS2500 padsComment
