Here are a few photos like the whole thing is screwed to the wheel bearing housing and how the wheel bearing housing is being processed.Comment

@quattro-frank

@all

i also attached some pictures of my done brake project on the rear. you may have a look..
kind regards!

4-5mm I guess. I wanted to change hubs to avoid grinding, but because me rims are already touching the wheel arces I needed to avoid this. Its still alot of material left on the carrier so I`m not to concern

yes... as you said.. the calipercarrier is 14mm thick. the wheel bearing house is at this place only 10mm thick... means 3-4-5 mm shouldn´t be a problem.
although i really don´t like changing something like this...Comment

Rear Brakes
Hi Ruhmic,
This is quie a comprehensive solution you have. Just a few points: -
1) As others have pointed out, how much have you had to to grind back the face of where the caliper carrier used to bolt on?
2) You have used one of the splash shield holes to bolt your solution on. That is the way i was going. The hole was origianlly an M6 thread but you look to have bored to M10. Does this weaken the hub too much?
3) I guess the soultion has to be a perfect fit before you bolt it all together as it needs the hub to be pressed into the bearing, the hub to be torqued to the strut and the hub to be torqued to the axle......all of which are a major pain in the a** to undo.
4) Does the ABS sensor still fit with the handbrake caliper?
5) What handbrake cable solution do you have in mind?
No criticism here... I admire the pioneering!
Some folks have commented that bigger rears upset the balance of braking but in my view lots of attention is lavished on up-sizing the fronts and retaining the standard rears, which changes the balance from standard.....there is some form of balance to be had here....more from me on braking theory when i have time to write it up.

Rear Brakes
Hello John B,
here are a few answers to your questions.
1) The height is not changed and remains original. The outer diameter of the wheel bearing housing is changed, but only as much as necessary to allow the fit of the adapter.
2) Yes, there is a hole from the splash shield, that is changed to M10. The wheel bearing housing is still strong enough at this point.
3) The adapter is pressed prior to installing the wheel bearing housing and screwed. Then the wheel bearing and the hub is pressed in. Then mounted it to the axle.
4) The ABS sensor fits here without problems. For smaller discs but it is problematic with the ABS sensor.
5) The hand brake cable is a special solution that is specially made.
The balance of the brake is adapted specifically. The front axle brake system is installed RS4 B7. There is also a special master brake cylinder and uses a modified brake booster. The pressure regulator is also changed to the rear axle.Last edited by Ruhmic; 4 April 2011, 19:46.Comment

Are you crazy? Of course we will!
DO you have any of the vital measurements of those calipers? Like cc of the "ears" that you fasten them to the brackets with? Any other measurements would be appreciated. I guess you know what I'm thinking... Will they fit on the RS4 b7 brackets, oh yeah. That's what I'm thinking.
