    Another brake line failure!!

Just over 2 years ago I had the cayenne brake conversion fitted to my S4 by quattronics. Last year one of the custom braided brake lines failed. It was on the passenger side front. I replaced it with one from Pirtek at the time. Yesterday the line on the driver's side failed in the same manner!! It's broken by the connector to the strut and it's easy to see why as it appears to be under stress when turning the steering from one lock to the other.

The question is what can I do to stop this happening again? Do I need a longer hose or should it be routed differently? Fortunately both failures have happened when I was very close to home and at low speeds but I don't want to push my luck anymore. Please have a look at the pics. I've a pic of right hand lock and left hand lock and a close up of the line.

If the lines are under stress at full lock then shirley you need longer hoses.... There's no pics up either.

if its the braided lines he tried to sell to me then they are miles too long already. I sent them back as I wasn't happy having all my hardlines replaced with flexi. Sounds like hes taken the easy route to fitting the brakes instead of using proper hardlines.

Better to get some brake piping and a flaring tool and make up your own hardlines, it's a peice of cake the pipe will bend in your hands or round your knee.

Then the only rubber is about 6-8inches long. If you want these in braided you can get them from goodridge or another quality supplier.

no access to my car at the moment otehrwise i'd take a pic and show you where you want the flexible bit and the hardlines mounted.

Where is the steering in pic1? Looks like the hose needs to be longer to me.

                        good old quattronics workmanship

line definately needs to be another inch or so longer - just get some made up the same length as the stock ones - amazes me people can get this kind of stuff wrong but then again this is :corey: we're talking about here

The pictured brake hose looks far too short to me. With that in mind I would have failed it on an MOT!
We have had some nice brake lines from HEL and good old Goodridge. HEL's are all stainless from memory, so no rust issues.

No this is the 2nd failure. Both quattronics lines on the front have now failed inside 2 and a half years. The 1st failure I replaced with a Pirtek line which is still ok although I'll be double checking!
