Cheers for the link... I already renewed the faulty ones on the allroad - figured it was worth refurbing them with new seals and such to make them good and maybe worth something. Plus the 'fun' of doing them - never had one stripped right down before - maybe not worth the hassle if funky tools are required along the way.
you need cranked long nose circlip pliers and a piston rewind tool helps. its a massive PITA to get the internal spring cage to seat properly without deforming, i'm sure there must be a special tool for it. You can replace all the seals easily bar the one on the handbrake lever, as this requires complete dismantling of the caliper. I swore never again! The best solution if you are going to do the job is tap a hole for a grease nipple into the handbrake lever bore that way you can top up the lubrication every time you service the car or whatever maintenance schedule you have - IIRC it was Rob GT500 who came up with this idea

since they are a larger piston diameter they are probably "easier" to do as the piston bore is larger meaning more room to get in there to compress the spring cage. You are more than welcome to borrow my funky circlip pliers if you fancy giving it a go. Nothing to loose by trying really as if it all goes t1ts up you can just wind the piston back in and exchange them at ECP or wherever

These are only 38mm - alloy version of B4Q caliper with a different hose fitment. I will have a look sometime - good tip on the oddball circlip pliers. Is the seal kit self explanatory or are there instructions somewhere ?
