    Brake servo..RS2

Im now officially looking for this part:

    8a1612099a

its the audi RS2 brake servo which is the long one of the 2 used on the car. After a discussion with Rob (GT500) these symptoms im having may well be related to a servo gradually gone bad. I have already sourced the master cylinder and im ready to order, but since the servo is bonkers money new, im wondering if anyone has any idea where we can source this one out either from ALE(or at least i think that is the name of the company) OR if anyone has one lying around.

    thanks in advance!

I would expect the brake servo to be made by ATE as I'm sure the master cylinder is. I had a look on the ATE online catalogue for you.

They only list the master cylinder as a spare in the catalogue for the RS2. It might be worth getting in touch with them to ask for more info on this.

I'm assuming your car is LHD based on the part number you have quoted?

Correction: They call the servo a brake booster, so the ATE part number is 10.0124-3202.3 for the LHD unit.

Note that the OE cross ref number is 8A1 612 099 (no A suffix).
So this is suitable for LHD cars with VINs 8C-R-000 000>> 8C-S-000 368.

    The 8A1 612 099 A is fitted to RS2s with VINs from 8C-S-000 369 onwards.

This isn't listed by ATE. As I say, I would get in touch with ATE to see if they can help further.

      thanks for that,
indeed mine is the one with the A suffix, not the plain. I would suppose then that the make is not ATE,which makes things more complicated, as im not sure i can fit the ATE unit

It looks that way doesn't it, I thought the master cylinders were common to both servos but they're not.

The servo is an ATE part. They will not supply to the aftermarket last time I tried

the next time mine goes bad I'm converting to vacuum servo and electric PAS pump.

Ah so it is an ATE part as I suspected. Seems odd that they will supply the servo and mc which is common across the range to the aftermarket but not the RS2 item which is unique to the Audi range at any rate.

Maybe it could be sourced from the Porsche parts bin? The 968 CS for example might be a worthy donor to consider?

i found a shop from the german ebay that can do the master cylinder for 200euro and the servo for 675euro. it is cheaper than the audi but at least new.

if i remember correctly the A part, is an ATE part as well, but i couldnt find any part numbers on it to look it up for some reason. Audi traditions has the 099 on photo and not the 099A but both come at the same price.

unfotunatelly i cannot source the 099A part used anywhere. I can find the other one which appears to be more common, but nothing else.

Brakeparts.co.uk do the ATE master cylinder cheaper than that, when i asked them they could not get the servo as ATE would not supply them.

AFAIK any 20v hydraulic servo will fit, doesn't need to be RS2 specific, you just need to adjust the pushrod length against the factory spec

not sure yet, there a loads of options, more and more cars now use leccy pumps - really need to get one that delivers similar pressure to the OE pump, about 110 bar.

when we had a look with Rob, it seemed that the version i have has different setup of lines when connected to the bomb and the steering rack line. His RS2, (LHD) in comparison which has the 099 servo is different. Im worried that it may not be able to be connected easily and would have to fabricate lines. However ill investigate as the 099 servo is easily found used and much cheaper option.

looking at the etka album, in order to fit the 099 pump i need:

                          brake line x2 +connecting piece
hose tube that goes to the top and connects to the 3piece line that comes from the pas reservoir,
master cylinder for the above servo(but does not make a difference as i still need this part)

as long as the unions on the hardlines to the servo are m10x1 i'm sure it will be a straight swap.

the 20v master cylinders for the hydraulic servo systems are all the same

so we have established that at least brake servos cannot be bought outside audi? master cylinders can be bought and used, correct?

ill try and make some calls to verify on monday what is what.
