    S4 1993: big brake options ?

    Guys,

need to go to a big brake setup for my 1993 S4. Currently I still have the UFO brakes.

    What are my options ?
    - Thnking about getting a KW coilover set and big brake set, similar to this:

Any good links where this has been done before or other options ???

    Thanks !

Your problem is the UFO brakes came on hub carriers (wheel bearing housings) that were designed for the UFO brakes and rotors. To switch to another brake system, you will probably have to find some later year UrS4 or UrS6 hub carriers that originally came with HP2 brakes (that would be an upgrade for failed UFOs right there). Once you have hub carriers/wheel bearing housings that were for the C4 UrS4/S6 with HP2 brakes, you can upgrade in quite a few ways, including going to 6 pot Cayenne calipers.

Here is some info about the various struts (hub carriers) that the C4 UrS4/S6s came with in Europe and NAmerica:

    Good luck.

faik.. why did he have to change hub carriers?
he can easy resize hub , and make custom caliper carrier for any brake sistem he want. HP2 (314mm) is simple way,HP2 323mm is custom , and every other is custom.
Been what do you want , and how much money do you have for this upgrade?
I can make 345mm disck 4pot BREMBO caliper and custom carier , everithing will be plug n play on your car .

Not everybody has the ability to design and execute custom caliper brackets to fit a particular caliper on a particular wheel bearing housing/hub carrier to match with a specific rotor. Changing hub carriers to HP2 carriers opens up an easier path to upgrades for the UK, Europe and rest of the world (ROW) C4 UrS4/S6s.

In NAmerica with our hub carriers designed for Girling G60 two pot calipers, we got lucky and can use RS2 front caliper brackets, 928 GTS (big black) calipers and 323 x 30 Audi A8/S8 rotors on our C4 UrS4/S6 cars.

But hey, if you have the skills and the equipment to make custom things....

Here is another option that requires minimal machining work & he can use his UFO hub carriers. It uses the S6 plus/B5S4 style caliper & B5S4 rotor.
First of all, I want to say I am new here and would like to say hello to everyone! This looks like a very positive and informative site and I look foward to spending time here. So I just picked up a 91 200 20v and I am slowly working through the list of issues with it. The first task was the...

Here is popdemonic's post converting the HP2 brake equipped URS4 to cayenne calipers.

After reading thru these post I think going to a 6-piston brembo caliper from a cayenne or touareg would not be too much more work on the URS4 with UFO hub carriers. Of course larger wheels would be required.

Also the newer low offset B5 S4 HP2 brakes with 321x30 rotors are almost plug and play on the UFO strut. Need to cut the upper carrier and bore bigger holes on the other two carriers on the wheel bearing housing. Also needed to gring down the wheel hub a bit to fit the rotors.
