    Getting HEL brake lines?

Im planning on getting some HEL flexi lines made up this weekend and would like to confirm that im getting the correct thing.

    Front 996 calipers:

Single 500mm length of stainless braided flexi
    one 10x1mm female end
    one 10x1mm offset banjo

    Rear Standard S2

Would this be the same as above but with a standard banjo?
Im not sure of the caliper fitment as i dont have the calipers yet(these are going on a 90Q)

Im running a flexi straight from the caliper to the body via the normal bracket on the strut.

    Cheers

    Martin

Can't help you with any detail Martin, but let me know how you get on with this, I'll be needing the same for my Brembos next month when I get home.

If you're going to standard fitting on the in board end, you need m10x1 circlip fittings other wise you'll struggle to securely fix the end of the hard lines and its an mot failure. I learnt the hard way and now have a set of custom brake lines that I can't use...

The lengths sound a little long too, IIRC they're about 300-350mm long.
How much are they from HEL? I got mine from earls

Oh and standard rear s2 is:
Female m10x1 circlip fitting to male m10x1 male.

Fronts for 996 are correct, but with the circlip fitting

Make sure atleast one end of the lines are swivel!

when i say circlip fitting, i mean these
Female with outer circlip fixing hose end with choice of seats and threads This fitting has an outer body diameter of 17mm Concave 3 8 x 24UNF -03JIC

you may need to open out the chassis bracket ever so slightly but it will allow you to use the standard retaining methods

Cool, cheers for the advice. Are swivle ends realy needed or are they just a luxury? I've never had a bother with normal flexis before.

350mm seems short to me. Does that give enough flex for suspension to top out?
A local place is a dealer and said about ÂŁ60 for the four lines. I'll find out for sure when I go in.

You need one swivel otherwise it makes it very hard to do up. Imagine fixing one.end to the chassis, now how you going to tighten the brake end without turning the line....

I did mine from what I took off my car. They fitted fine, rears were spot on and front brake lines travel with the suspension so no flex needed really.

The trick is to fit the caliper end first then hold the chassis end hex while you do up the male hardline from the chassis, stops the flexi line twisting

That is why i wondered about the swivles.

Im not to sure about the length to be honest. I was just guessing. Ill have a look at the car and work it out with an old bike brake cable or something. Ill let you all know the score when i get them made up.

About 800mm overall length works well. There is a drawing here which I used to get mine made up.

I just measured the lines on my 90 and the rears will need 300mm per side and the fronts are 400mm per side.

Mouse- Do you mean 800mm per line? surely thats way to much or do you mean 400mm per side at the front?
