996 anti rattle shims - how to attach?

As per the title, I need to fit some to the old girl to stop the incessant ringing. Glue, adhesive tape... What's best?

Is it not just a couple of bosses on the shim that just slot into the bores in the pistons? I think the pad side of the shim that sticks to the pad is just like you say a double sided tapey stuff.

In the past I think I've used epoxy but it needs time to cure so I'm looking for something a little more instant.

Cheers, I was thinking about silicon to stick it but then thought it might not be high enough temperature. I'll have a look in my toolbox, as I think I might have some copper gasket material. It still takes time to set up though and so would require me to leave it with the brakes on for a time (to avoid them moving when curing on the bench).

I have Loctite 5920, which appears to have a very similar temperature rating (350 vs 370 C).

I also have araldite slow set and some other fast set epoxy but that's only rated to 100C

I just use ceratex brake lubricant between the back of the pads and the shims, seems to work ok. Also use it on the sliders and haven't had any problems that I used to get with noise.

Only a small percentage of the heat makes it through the pad, but I suspect it
could be well over 200 deg c, I would not go with something as low as 100 deg that's for sure.
I would think anything with a similar rating to the ultra copper would be fine but all I can say for sure is the ultra copper works a treat.

My only worry using an epoxy or loctite, is that disassembly when you next need to change your pads is going to be tricky!
I think a semi-setting/rubbery compound like the permatex described above will be your best bet.

Coolio. I'll try the copper gasket that I have here and see how I get on. Need to get it quiet before I return to using the old girl every day...

But they are supposed to be stuck to them, the new shims come with an adhesive backing and are are supposed to be replaced when changing pads because of this, but they are ~12 +vat each and as you need 4 of them that makes you front brake pad change a fair bit more expensive.
