    Rear brake replace/upgrade

Is it worthwhile upgrading the rear brakes for street use and big hp?

I've been pulling the rear end apart and could with new discs at least, but might as well replace the lot since I'm rebuilding the whole car.

Are there any alternatives that doesn't cost a fortune?

Take a look to see what you need ,but this setup requires hydraulic hand brake or separate small caliper for normal cable hand brake

Same conversion as AndyP' has done. All the info is available via S2central.net or if you scan through Andys thread you'll find a link for all the part number. Parts required are:

              B7 v8 300mm rear discs
              Urs4 callipers
              D2 S8 calliper carriers
              D2 S8 pads
              4 x 4mm spacers
55mm x M8 carrier bolts shortened to correct length

I went for this setup, works well. I needed new rr calipers/discs etc so figured it would be rude not to

Also recommended along the way is new brake lines and clips for handbrake...

Turn the 300mm discs to 280, shorten 2 bolts, a couple of washers to center the carrier and it bolts on.

There is a thread on here somewhere documenting it all.

Depends what you mean by a fortune

Anyway.....this set up is great http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62766

I might be biased though No seriously i am impressed with this setup. It is well-balanced and not too exotic.

                  Cheers

Does anyone know if the caliper and support can take a 24mm thick disk?
