Swap to 5 stud is going to be the best for secondhand parts.
Only option I know of on 4 stud is to use Focus RS discs and upgrade the calipers.
Of course, there's always the option of some custom bells for AP racing / Brembo etc. 2 piece discs and 4 or 6 pot calipers.Cheers'en, AndyC

As Rusty says Focur Rs Mk1 discs ( need to open middle out a touch ) brackets from Bambridge on here with Boxster S calipers ( 4 pot monoblock ) and a bit of new brake pipe to join all together....
Decent Calipers=£350 ish
Brackets=£150 ish
Discs=£150 ish
Pipes=? depends on your pref....

As above, Ford Focus RS Mk1 Discs. Centres need boring out to match the hubs, and bolt holes enlarging.
Then any calipers for that size of disc, easiest is porsche brembo stuff as adaptors are readily available.
Cheapest, I bought 4 pot brembos off a BMW E38 728 £150 for the pair, and pads for £30. But then you have to figure out your own mounts.
Discs are currently under £100 a pair for pagids from ECP.1994 URS4 Avant RS2+Comment

passat 312mm with discs redrilled to 4 stud. or passat 312mm discs (redrilled) boxster calipers. rs2 mounts machined down to bring the caliper outwards and Spacers to lift caliper upwards. that's what Im running on my 90Comment

My 17" Oz Superleggera's fit fine over the setup I mentioned above....

on the 5 stud there is loads of clearance. not sure, but doubt theres as much space on the 4 stud. pretty sure my 16v has less clearance to rim than the 5 stud i have.
a mate just did his tt with brembos and the wheels wouldn't clear without spacers.Comment

I need approx 10mm spacers to clear the calipers when I mocked mine up.
