    Cant flare brake pipe

Got a problem with flaring a brake pipe on my S6. I have changed the front calipers and as usual a union wouldn't undo i wasn't to worried as ive got a flaring tool, trouble is the tool wont clamp the pipe tight enough so wont flare the end

The pipe in question is the main feed pipe from the ABS pump. It has got a plastic coating and seem to be made of steel and not copper. Has anybody got any advice, i would like to keep the original pipe and just flare the end can it be done or will i have to replace it?

OE pipes are steel so they are a lot tougher than copper or cupro that most DIY flaring kits are designed for. You might find it is easier to replace the whole brake line all the way back to the ABS pump with cupro nickel.

not the answer i wanted to hear

I didn't want to have to remove the whole pipe Pretty sure the pipe on the S4 im breaking is good so i'll swap it for that one i know what i'll be doing Christmas eve

The kits i've got aren't DIY but wont flare it i did have a go at fitting olives to the pipe and joining it that way but it didnt work

Speaking of that, I think the UrS4 ABS system is different than the 96 and 97 UrS6 ABS system so don't be surprised that an UrS4 line doesn't fit.

        But it might.

Did you strip the plastic off before trying to flare?

The plastic was missing from the end so yes it was stripped back. i also tried wrapping tape around it.
