Brake Bomb replaced still warning signal

    Hi all,

I had the bomb replaced for a brand new one last week and when I use the car every day it's OK.
However if I don't use the car for a day the "brakepressure warning" still comes on when starting the car.

I was wondering whether this is normal and if not what a possible cause/solution would be ??

    Thanks
    Carlo

I believe there's a test for the various components of the hydraulic system on SJM's site. If it's not the valve in the bomb it could be the brake master cylinder loosing the pressure. I've had a quick look for the info, but the site has changed since I last visited Perhaps another member on the forum could advise you how to check this out?

I assume you have also checked the connections on the sender on top of the resevoir?
As i had that (!) come up on mine, checked connections first and cleaned up and it was fine (tested bomb with the pump the brake pedal count thing)

It's losing pressure, hence the warning.

You should check the return pipe from the servo. More than just a few drips indicates the servo is leaking.

Also check all banjos / pipes are secure.

Check S2Central. There is a section on testing the hydraulic system, (bomb, servo, pump)

With mine I have to overfill a bit the servo reservoir to cease the beep and signal

I'm going to try that, as mine only happens if i park on my drive which is on a slope, when i park on the road it never happens.

My servo leaks past its seals if stood still for about 30 mins or so. I too replaced the bomb. I have a spare servo sat in the workshop waiting to be fitted, but its a pig of a job and i cant be bothered.

It's not like you have to worry about brakes too much, with your car being so slow and all.

Could be either, follow the test procedures on S2central, that way you will only have to buy one expensive part!!

Just a note, these tests only work is the system is free from external leaks.

could be the pump as well, if it isn't pumping to the bomb then the bomb will run out of pressure and one day you'll be driving to work and the brakes will stop working

which is what happened to me, and it's not fun.

1.5 hours of labour. Pretty straight forward job.

I thought I would add to this thread, im trying to test my brake & hydraulic system. Which pipe is the return pipe to the brake servo?

Can the relief valve for the BOMB be bought seperately or do you have to buy a whole unit since i think this may be the problem because you can hear it clicking.
