Did you have the car up on a ramp? I think my bomb needs replacing too.
I replaced the bomb as a precaution along with 996 upgrade
Overall results are great, and worth doing in one go.

Was it a straightforward enough job? What sort of access did you have to the bomb?

The Bomb and bracket is located from underneath, near side. Access gained by removal of the under tray. Undo the two hydrolic fluid pipes 1 x 11mm bayonet fitting 1 x 14mm banjo. Disconect the flexable pipe from above, Jubilee clip.

Obviously at this stage I had already discharged the bomb (pumping the brake pedel 50 + times and drained the majority of the power steering fluid)

Removal of the bomb was easiet by removal of the bomb and bracket, 3 x 10 mm nuts,. two at the base just need loosening as the bracket will slide out and one from the top (undone by feel and touch)

Once bomb and bracket are removed the replacement of the bomb is fairly straight forward and refitting is the reverse.

        Hope this helps

Did you have it up on a ramp, or were you working on axle stands?

Right, finally got round to doing the "bomb test", having been suffering the dreaded "beep beep beep" on start up for about the last 12months!

Result -46 pedal pushes before the bomb discharged and the pedal went soft. That to me sounds like the bomb is ok?

I'm still getting the Beep, I can't see any visable leaks on my brake system, what else could be causing it?

While your doing a price search try www.quattrocorner.com Peter Reeve is his name and is well known in the UR community.

Its always been said also that before starting any upgrade where faults are present is to sort the faults out first, then upgrade. Reasoning behind it is if the fault is still there after the upgrade is it a fault ontop of the original one or the original one still playing up in which case pointless upgrade.

I personally think FAIK that I agree with the bomb being faulty. Is the S2 bomb test similiar to the UR 20 plus pedal depressions the bomb is good <than 10 and its faulty??

That's the one -pump the pedal with the engine off and count how many pumps until your foot's on the floor. I managed 46. Hmm.

check the pas pump plugs for leaks and make sure the sensor on the hydraulic fluid reservoir is not causing the error

PAS pump looks as dry as the sahara. The float on the PAS reservoir looks ok, how would I check if that's not working?
Is there meant to be a sensor on the top of the brake fluid reservoir too?

The warning on start up is almost always due to a loss of hydraulic pressure. If the pump is dry, you may have a leak somewhere else. Either the rack, bomb or servo. Or any of the hoses leading to/from these parts.

The sensor for the brake fluid level is not on the cap. It's on the side underneath I think .
