993TT 322x32 discs can be had quite cheaply too, could get some bells made up to suit, still probably going to come in at £450 for a pair of 2pcs.
I was planning to use some Reyland AP patterns, with custom bells around £550 a pair for 355x34

If I am looking at the right discs it looks as though they are about 5mm different from the A8 discs in terms of total height. That presumably means the caliper sits further into the wheel. As long as there is enough room I guess its not a problem. We would have to try as many wheels as we could to build up a library of fitments!

Robin, what 2 part discs are you referring to? I have noticed that most Porsche discs are cross drilled, which I'm not a fan of for 2 reasons: 1) they make an odd whirring noise and 2) they crack when you really give them some use. OEM ones will be better but some aftermarket ones, not so much.

Having got through a few discs in the past due to 'warping' and corrosion, £500 a pair could become an expensive habit.

I'm not too concerned about the wheel fitment, up to 330 I think most 17s will fit unless they have some crazy dish

It just that I have seen companies use the 996 GT3 disc in both sizes as the basis for their 2 piece discs, i.e they machine them to take a bell. They are relatively cheap in the aftermarket but I am uncertain if their design is the same.
Looking at some of the larger Audi discs it doesen't look like there is any scope to modify them. So we either accept a one piece disc and position the caliper to suit or uses 2 piece ones to put things where we want them at a cost premium.

I can't see how there is enough material for the mounting bolts on the Porsche 1pc disc

Perhaps the OE Porsche disc is a different design and has enough meat! Which means its too expensive to experiment on!
The aftermarket ones are manufactured down to a price.
Out of interest where have you seen affordable 993TT discs?

Don't know if it is indeed a pic of an OEM disc of course

I'm interested in a setup for 17 inch wheels and 2 part discs. So if you guys come up with something I'm in.

Its evident that the bell is recessed into the disc centre rather than bolted to the outside disc like the 993TT.
I wonder if there is enough meat for a flat surface once the cast part is removed. Not sure whether the bell has a profile that matches the disc recess.
Must admit I struggled to see how it was done but it obviously can!

This is the only pic I could find of those disc without the bells:

Here are some pics from some nutter with an Astra itch! It's hard to see whether the bell follows the disc profile or is just flat.
