Which cables do you use with VAGCOM?

Well,

I got a third party cable and this cable does not seem to be able to date log, since i can only use version 3.xxx of VAGCOM. So perhaps a nother program can be used?

So what are you guys using, cuz paying over 200£ just for a cable is a bit to much for me. Any great ideas?

As far as i know you cant datalog without the full version of vagcom.You need to register with vagcom, i messed around with the non genuine cables but found it isnt worth it.I ended up buying the real thing and have been very happy with it.Wish i had just bought it in the first place.It worth the cash.

Spink is right - the issue is s/w not with the cables. You need a full license on VAGCOM for datalogging - but don't bother if you have a 3B cos it doesn't have datalogging capability anyway.

I got a full version of VAGCOM so that is not the problem.
But if it is true what you say that might explain my problems. hehe
I tried to use meassure blocks, but it wont show anything at any blocks, sadly. Just thought i could do some logging of the lambda probe, but i guess not.

You need this cable with the other "standard" cable.
Vagcom can be obtained for things and stuff from nice people

Jonas - if you have a 3B then the only group available under the engine is Group 0. That group cannot be datalogged with VAGCOM.

This has NOTHING to do with 2x2 cables !

I use the OBDII cable from www.abidig.de. Cost me €90 I think. Seems to work just fine with VAG COM 3.XXXX.

I just looked at their site and it seems my cable is no longer avaliable. It has both the new style and the 2 x 2 connectors which is handy!

Yeah Paul,
I dont know why people are talking about 2x2 cables, since you can get them from audi for 14 euro.

But it is good to know, that is not my cable but the car that cant do data logging on any of the other groups

You need a OBD-2x2 cable and you need a cable with a obd- seriel/usb , could be this cable fx:

Yep, can recommend this guy (bought 4 cables from him), he's an american living in China whopping out these cables "fast". The one in the above link will also work on the lastest "dual k line" Audi's.
And yes, he shipped mine from China in 1.5 days Ordered on a Wednesday afternoon and on my doorstep at 9.00am on the Friday morning. Bloody Royal Mail can't deliver that fast in the UK

I did however have a problem with one of his earlier cables (bought last year) in that it broke whilst trying to read a 7A ECU. He says that this is sorted now, but I ain't trying it
