HI Paul,
We have now gone direct to Beru for coil packs now as they are identical to OE Audi and miles cheaper. People know us for Genuine OE part only, but sometimes.... its just plain cheaper to go direct to manufacturer.
So these are direct from Beru and come with the spark plug boot and new wires, BUT neither Beru or OE coil packs can possibly ever come with the wiring plug on the end!! there are 4 wiring plug for the 5 coilpacks and the paired up wires go down heat insulating protective tubing each and then the plugs go on. I personally cut the wires about 6 inch from the tci plugs and soldered the new wiring on. I'll post a couple more pictures below.
Its expensive yes, but what can you do... all ABY and ADU's should have a 'service interval' on these packs of about 120,000 as they are all going to be rotten by this time. Worst case I was worried about (and I saw this recently on another S2 members car) was that the coil pack wiring shorted out and blew one TCi unt!! so not only five coil packs were need, but also one TCI unit, and they are really expensive! plus our cars have TWO tci units, Don't want the expense of replacing those babies!
The performance gain is a lot after fitting these new ones, the old ones just cannot give the needed spark and as you know, mines only running 280hp so for anyone running more hp, then the effect will be miles worse!
I've kept my 5 old ones , altough they are little use as all the wiring to every pack is shot to pieces. It's not the coil pack that is failing, its the wiring that is the main curse. THe wiring is like epoxy sealed intop the pack, maybe it could be replaced...?
