ABY Coupe Battery Information

I wouldnt worry a great deal. It is more than likely a mod fitted to later models. Mine doesnt have one either

Just thought I would add some photo's to confirm the battery situation in the Coupe.

Today I bought a 680AH, 70AH Battery from my local factors that was spec'd for the S2. I was quoted £112 for a Bosch Silver top but paid £75 for this generic Premium battery. Call me tight, but a battery is a battery, this has a three year guarantee which suits me fine.

Anyway please find attached the installation pics.

NOTE: This battery did have a vent and I connected it up to the existing tube that was in my tray with a simple push fit. The other thing to check is that the base flange of the battery has some packers or is the correct depth to work with the Audi clamping bracket. I had to use the removeable spacers from my old battery actually fit them UNDER the new battery to space it up higher in order for the clamp to apply sufficient pressure on the battery. Without them the battery have been able to move and rattle. I did not get any pics of this, but you will know if the clamp does not do its job properly....

Can someone take a few detailed pics of the S2 battery compartment, please. I'm trying to place it in the same location in my CQ,as we did not get proper S2's here in the states.

Can someone please confirm the dimensions an amps for a correct battery for a aby s2. Mine currently has a platinum 027 in, which i believe is not correct for it.

Tayna states an 096 battery for all the Audi Coupes, inc S2, is quite different to an 027:
