    Electric Windows

All of a sudden the electric windows on my S2 avant have decided not to work.
They were prefectly allright, but not having driven the car for a few days, they have stopped working.
I've looked in the fusebox, but can't find an appropriate fuse for these. Is there one??.

Any suggestions of where to look for a fault.

    On another gremlin,

My main beam headlights don't work. They will on the flash, when you pull the stalk. But not when you want main beam. Again any thoughts gratefully received.

Also, ( I know, lot's of questions ). My rear fog light won't work. Checked the bulb, it's ok, and have put my multimeter across the wiring and seem to get 10/12 volts, but no light. Any clues where to look???.

    Thank's in advance.
    Trystan.

    Hi Trystan,

there is a fuse for the windows, I'm sure, check again on the fuse box lid under the bonnet.

If your main beam doesn't work and you have high power headlight bulbs then you have probably 'cooked' your stalk. ( painful!) get another from an old Audi 80/90 and remove the high wattage bulbs or fit relays and disable the autocheck by bending the tab on the Autocheck relay. Rear lights vcan eb a pain. Maybe the avant wiring has broken and the voltage is present but a broken wirre doesn't pass enough current to allow the bulb to light.

check all switches and connections, and fuses too . if possible take a meter and messure if you get any respons when opperating the switches then it could be a busted window el motor, or you cuold just have a bad wire somewhere..

if you have the vin nr of your car I can check the el books here at work..
