    HID Fitting Quick Question

Got my kit sitting on the kitchen table, (Thanks Jas11N) by the looks of things the red and black wires that connects into the car loom and then onto the ballast are very short, in the kit i have 2 longer wires, is it ok to use the longer wires and thred them through the rubber grommet.

If i can't then i haven't really got much wire to play with to mount the ballasts

    Cheers

Iain, are you talking about the high tension wires that go to the HID bulb?

No the other wires that connect into the harness of the car and then plug into the ballast

Those should be ok to extend since they are normaly 12V wires, just make sure they are insulated and connected properly if you have to extend them

There should be no need to extend the wiring with Jas11n's kit. I have the same kit in my car and have loads of slack in the wires. The power and earth are fed from the original bulb wiring, so only the cables to and from the Ballasts need to exit the rear cover. Fitting is a piece of ****, other than drilling the 20mm hole in rear cover

I think most people mount the ballasts on the vertical black plastic wing plate, directly behind the headlight, but there is a much better places that only Jas and I (Independently) seem to use....see if you can spot it

          Cheers n

Job done, and it works, i did end up extending the wires to give myself a bit more to play with,

One other question is it worth getting sidelight bulbs of a different colour to try and match the headlights or not, if so which ones???

                  Enjoy the lights Iain
Previous fitting to S6's saw me mount one ballast to the top of the oil cooler ducting and the other side to the top of the ABS unit. Although there is WAY more space around the engine on S4/S6 it's still suprisingly tight.

I've got these >>> here Picture of them next to 6000k HID's is in this thread >>> here
LED sidelights are also good, again the bay seems to be the place for a good choice.

I fitted the drivers side one just below the wgfv, used the ballast bracket and scewed into a metal cross brace or summit, passenger side straight on top of the abs (cheers for that), although there is more space it's still not a lot to work with.

Thought about doing the fogs too, i think it would be a bit tight to fit 2 more ballasts and another hole and wiring through the cover, with the hid you really don't need fogs, i decided to adjust my headlights by dropping them down 1 on the electric adjuster and then manually adjust them back up to where they were so effectively i am at plus 1 when the switch is set to 0, when it's mot time i will drop down to position 1 on the switch.

                        great bit of kit though

It asked about dipped and highs for you, but now it seems you already have dipped, don't want highs and want fogs instead?
I'm totally lost off as to what's wanted, if indeed any are wanted at all

No point fitting anything until you have new reflectors.
