Reverse light switches normally show themselves as solenoid type looking things on the outside of the box, normally nearer the gearstick end than the bell housing - but thats just a general observation, dunno about the S2.
Sorry for the Haynes style photo.
It's near the top of the box on the O/S. You can see the mount bracket just behind and below it in the picture. It's a 2 pin plug.
You'll need a 22mm spanner if you want to remove it.
Jamo before you get involved in the switch ,check the wires that go from roof to the tail gate, top left as you look at the back of the car, theres a flexey rubber hinge that carrys all the wires to the rear lights ect, pull it back as much as you can and check for brocken or damaged wires,my s6 failed MOT on reverseing lights and and this is whear the problem was,we just connected the wires useing short peice of wire and taped them up,much easier than it sounds, you may have to remove some of the trim ,but it just unscrews. I am sure the s2 is the same as the s6,best of luke

Jamo:
Most likely a corrosion issue on the connector - try to get it out ( might need to use a long screwdriver to depress the locking clip) and spray the male and female contacts with the contact cleaner of your choice.
