  • S2 immobiliser issues

    Hi all,

I recently purchased the S2 and i am having issue with the immobiliser, i even has to call breakdown cover at one point as the car would not restart on a journey.
Could the forum recommend an immobiliser system i could replace it with.

    Thanks

Welcome, I didn't think that the oem one gave much trouble. Not sure if you can get a nice to handle / feel new oem key from the dealer, but it may be cheaper to have the ECU chipped and pick up an extra 50bhp and ask the tuner to disable the oem imboliser inside the ECU and so you 'kill' two birds with the one stone.

Avant or Coupe ? Colour ?

      HTH a bit.

This is the right place if you own an S2 as there are certain recurring issues that will need your attention due to the age of the car, but once fixed all should be good.

Its the Coupe, needs few things restoring. Hoping to bring it back to OEM.
Just placed a new stainless steel exhaust. Also trying to find the original speedo cluster.

In my experience they usually immobilise 2 circuits.
The ignition just behind the switch.
The fuel pump, somewhere near the ECU.
The fuel pump one usually goes first because the relay or the multipin connector in the immob box can’t handle the current.
If you bypass that circuit and put the fuel pump wiring back to stock, the alarm and ignition immob will still work.

Other chaps on here have had good experience with the Toad alarms I believe.
Personally I really don’t like alarms and usually remove them.

Hello, if it's aftermarket and giving problems probably best do as newsh advises, is that the original registration number do you know?

Yes, to my knowledge it hadn't been changed.

Will try to get better pictures.

As you can see the speedo cluster has been modified by the previous owner to be in Kmh rather then mph, also the clock and digital display dont appear correctly.

                            OK...it's a 3B...

the cluster, hmm... you could get away with a new clock and some new dial faces.... the digital display is more of an issue, but I believe a guy in germany has been located who can fix them...

might be worth trying to get a proper airbix too...

                            Good luck, will be nice....

Edit: looks like you need a cam belt cover too....?
