Help needed- where is auxiliary relay box?

I've read some stuff here about the thermal cap fuses and relays causing intermittent electric window faults. I have such a problem and as I'm selling my car I'd like to do the decent thing and sort out what remains it's only problem before the next owner gets it.

Question is I've looked under the steering wheel on my LHD RS2 but can't see anywhere obvious where the relay box would be. So does anyone know where on earth this might be located on a LHD RS2?

Also some help troubleshooting- if the window goes down always but wont always go all the way up is this likely to be a relay fault? What happens is I'll put it down to clear moisture or look out of the window and then go to put it up and it will stop half way. If I leave it 20 seconds or so and press the button again it will go up some more and then maybe stop again before it reaches the top. Leave it some more time and it always goes back up. I'm therefore discounting the motor and wonder if it's the relay or some 'thermal cap fuses' I've read about on here- whatever they are.

I need help and I need it fast, I hate to think of the old girl going to a new owner and souring the experience by having a stupid fault like this. In case you can't guess- I still think this car is fantastic.

Im no expert on this by any means but I would suggest you check the switch on that window first....you could swap in a known good switch to test it...

Is there a shelf underneath the steering wheel on the drivers side?? if so, there may be 4 hex bolts...2 at the top corners nearest to you and two if you get upside down under the dash with a torch!!
if this is the case and it does have this panel....Remove it and the aux relays are located under there.
You can visually inspect the suspected one and re solder any possible dry joints. and try it again..Other than that it could be something jamming in the mechanism?? so you would need to remove the door skin to investigate this.

I suspect its on the passenger side in a LHD car, below the fuse box anyway.

Not sure about RS2 specifically, but fuse box in a LHD S2 is still on the drivers side, so aux stuff should be beneath the steering wheel, you need to remove the shelf panel.... I suspect your problem is more likely with the window switch....
        I had problems with mine....
You didnt say whether it was the drivers side or passenger side which is faulty, if it is the passenger side, the fault can be with either the drivers side passenger window switch, or the passenger side switch... (if you understand what I mean....)
My passenger window always went down, but would intermittently not go back up from either switch, turned out was the switch on the drivers door, replaced this and works fine.
You can check this by reversing the wiring to the switch on said window, if it works the other way round, it is definately the switch...!

It's the drivers side and I already tried using one of the rear switches, result? Exactly the same.

Thanks to all the help I now know where the auxiliary relay box is and so should anyone else using the search function!

There also 3 or 4 relays under the rear seat in the coupe, not sure if its the same on rs2.
