  • A very odd fault

    Hi to all
my S2 Avant been parked in the garage for 10days, today I went in the garage and the cooling fan was running, by the time I'd lifted the bonnet it stopped. Went in 10mins later and its on, it continued for 2-3 mins and then I disconnect the feed.
no keys in the ignition when it was on, any ideas ????

Yes, and me. It's the after run relay and they are not cheap

          Hi from me again.
the relay that appears to be in the slot for fan motor delay is numbered 214 part no 443951253K. Price around £15 for new one. Can you confirm if this matches your part and its price. Cheers for your help.

Take the cover off the after-run pump relay - you’ll find there is a burnt out diode (EDIT: and also possibly a burnt transistor) on the board that you can de-solder and replace - I have repaired around a dozen 324 relays like this.

Am I reading this right;- the cause could be the initial current draw of the after-run pump, and/or the pump itself could be failing?

Hi all....the original issue was the cooling fan tripping in with no keys in the ignition.
today I have replaced the 214 relay and have found a guy that will repair the 324 large relay. So all should be good in time for any trips over the Xmas period.
                    cheers to all info.
