Is there a link available on how to test the g40 sensor on AUDI S2 ABY or AAN engine. I know there is a LED option available if anyone knows where one can be borrowed or purchased would be greatly appreciated as I’m trying to find engine won’t start issue, many thanks.

Very helpful, was able to make up a Led test bulb to check for pulse, all good so not the problem. Car even fired up on the first try but then refused to start again when stopped.Comment

Check your static timing very carefully, using the zero mark in the bell housing window and the camshaft marks. If the bottom pulley keyway is broken the pulley can move and the car randomly won’t start, then it moves back a bit and will start. If it goes completely you’ll bend valves.
You’ve definitely got plenty of fuel in the tank? My fuel gauge went wrong once and I spent ages trying to get it started, it ran out at over 1/4 tank on the gauge.Comment

Checked timing first all looks spot on and had put 20 litres of fresh fuel in. Had the battery on charge all day due to the constant cranking.
so went out and give it a crank and again it fired up with out any real issues, also stopped and restarted it 5 times with out fault.
no fault codes logged either on my scanner. All earth straps look good .Comment

Maybe the cam sensor is breaking down then, sometimes they become unreliable when hot but work ok when cooled down.Comment
