    Factory Alarm

A wee bit off topic but here goes

On my 95 Cabby I have the factory alarm operated from the key (no remote), presumably the same system as on the S2. Anyhow, the drivers door lock recently stopped activating the central locking and turning the alarm off. With a bit of trial and error I've worked out that there is a switch on the door lock barrel with a grey wire down to a connector by the central locking actuator in the door - if I disconnect that connector the locking starts working again but the alarm no longer works, so I assume the 'switch' on the lock barrel turns the alarm on or off. So to the question (at last!!) - Does anyone know if the 'switch' on the lock barrel is coded to the key or if it is a simple switch that can be changed easily?

You beat me to it Ben. Had the same problem`twice`with our P reg Audi convertible then the alarm statred setting/not setting so after a couple of fixes we junked the standard audi system for a Clifford 650 all singing all dancing and no probs since.

You can get round it by fitting a remote central locking kit. The door lock switch on the Dag-Dag is a bit flaky so I fitted an ebay special remote locking kit with it wired into the factory alarm terminals of the pump. That way it arms and disarms the factory alarm.
