as I'm about to pickup my ellipsoids this weekend how do the current colour coded strips below the early lamp hook up to the later ones....a doddle or a blue peter moment with glue, cutting etc?

Should be the same I think. My S2 had 3b Lights when it was born but the previous owner upgraded to elipsoids. Should bolt straight on...

If you have the two seperate strips (one either side) then no difference.
IIRC the very early S2's had a one piece strip all the way across (similar to the B3 strip) that stepped back slightly behind the grille. In that case I think you need to remove a mounting (the fragile corner one) from the headlamps. I think you should be ok on a 92 though. Audi dumped it as most of the strip was a waste.

yeah i have the later early lamps with the strip just under each light rather than the long one.

Cant wait to get them plugged up and then start the HID route hopefully wil be able to see while driving at night....

I originally kept the one piece trim when I changed to ellipsoids, by cutting off the mounts on the headlights.
Then I changed my mind and got another set of headlights and bought the two piece trims.
Although now I think the one piece trim looked neater, but I’m not changing the headlights again. Besides, the two piece trims are a lot lighter as they are made from plastic not metal.

i am just trying to change the wires around in the plug to get the headlights to work correctly like in the link but there allready is a wire in number 8 position is this swaped in to number 7 or joined with the ofef one and what is its service?
