Anyone know (or could measure) the diameter/size of the secondary dials?
Has anyone tried taking out the alternator voltage charge dial and replaced it with a boost guage? What size guage would be needed to fit in the vacant orifice?
A boost guage isn't really an upgrade, is it?

Yes it probably would as the front panel is a separate part that has the holes for the original units.
VDO is the original manufacturer and they have -1 - +2 (or 1,5 can't remember) bar boost gauges available, but they're black. D&W and some other styling companies sell different colour sets so they could probably be converted white, BUT the original ones are light gray so white one would stick out. They could all three be converted white and that would probably be the best solution thinking esthetics.
IMO the boost gauge is quite useless but good if (when) you run into boost problems. I borrow my friend's industrial type gauge and put it with a t-piece to the MAP hose when I need a boost gauge.
After all when you step on it you don't have time to look at the console gauges and all other static installations (wents, on dash etc) are somekind of compromises.
