  • Whine under back seat !

No...not the mother in law teling me to slow down lol...

All the time I've had the car ( a year) , it's had a high pitch whine coming from unde the rear seat (where battery etc are of course) ...which changes pitch if you load more electricals (ie lights and stereo on).

It's similar to the interference you used to get through the car stereo on old non-suppressed cars (remember those days?).

Is it a sign of something that's not happy ??? I've ignored it so far on the basis that all cars have minor noises and niggles.

Fuel pump, could be on it's last legs.

Do you run you car right down to empty or always keep it at 1/4 tank and above?

Yes, as the pump has to work harder to pick up fuel from the tank.

Also will pick up alot of muck from the bottom of the tank.

That makes sense and probably means i will have to replace my pump before long as the tank is nearly always empty

Most of it just gets trapped in the fuel filter mate. Change the fuel filter 1st before the pump

Yes, pump makes more and more noise as the filter gets dirtier.
