Right,
After finally picking my car up tonight, on the way home my car alarm started sounding intermittently whilst driving.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any ideas what might be causing this?
Cheers
Chris
Never heard of this one before on a Toad.
The installer I use is often in London and is very good, he has put Toads in my last 3 cars, if you want someone trustworthy to look at it I can pm you his number
I will look at the car again in daylight tomorrow and check a couple of things.
The car was involved in a collision so am wondering if that may have something to do with it. Other possibilty, following repair, the bonnet alarm switch has not been replaced (could that make a difference)?
Could it also have anything to do with the indicator relay as that seems to have stopped working also?
@ Dest. Can you PM me that number anyway please? Always good to have a number of someone that knows what they are doing.
I dont think the bonnet pin would make any difference, as its not active when unarmed.
I bought a car once with a cat 1 alarm that didnt have one atall, and the alarm still worked fine!
Ive got a feeling that newsh is right about it being the battery, but I think its the battery backup for the siren rather than the remote.
Ive just looked through my manual and it doesnt say anything regarding the alarm going off while driving
Does the alarm sound “normal” when it decides to go off Chris? I had a problem with my Toad on the S2 that was caused by water getting into the alarm speaker box unit which was mounted up by the fuse box. There’s circuitry in that unit and due to the water something had shorted and a resistor or two had got fried! Sounded like a cross between a huge woodpecker and a haunted ice cream van!! Weirdest thing till I traced it and drove the neighbours – and myself - nuts!!!
Maibe is only a poor contact at the alarm plugs. I had this after the drain hole from the ac has blocked and the water has coroded a litle bit the pins. I have only plug out and then in the plugs and everything was back to normal.
Hope this helps!
Eugen
Does sound a bit like the noise mine made! - oh and the bonnet sensor was knackered at the time on mine and made no difference to the problem. Worth checking out the siren unit - its usually the easiest bit to get to also to start with! Could be the back up battery which lives in there is knackered?
cheers

Problem sorted today.
When wiring was oriiginally fitted, some wiring was cabled to the steering column. Over time it worked itself slightly loose and due to chaffing, the sleeving wore away causing a short.
Some insulating tape and a new siren and the problem is sorted.

Glad you got it sorted mate, have you driven the car again yet?
Just drove her home through traffic John. The knackered sensor is definiotely causing overfueling. Car stinks of petrol. Glad MOT isn't due just yet.... lol
Cheers
