The sunroof on the S2 just stopped working ,windows still working and the light on the sunroof control panel still work, dont know if it shares the same fuse or not. Any ideas.
S2 sunroof stopped working

If it's a pre-selector sunroof it has a seperate thermal fuse (S83) to the windows (S43), both rated at 20Amps. So it would be worth waiting to see if resets and works again once the fuse has had a chance to cool and reset.
There is a link between the window and sunroof controllers but I assume that's so the window controller can give the roof the same flexibility the windows have to work after the ignition is switched off etc. Otherwise the roof is independent.
The light in the roof has nothing to do with the roof motor. The roof motor is easy to access. The cover just clips into the roof lining. Pull down gently on the edge nearest the windscreen and it will swing down. You can check for power to the motor and at the least use the key to manually operate the roof.Comment

I had this problem on my passat - turned out it was a bust wire in the bit by the door hinge on the pass side - I know the sunroof has nothing to do with the pass door but thats what it was!
- so I advise pulling the rubber boots back on the looms where they enter the doors and check for breakages....

Finally found the time to try and see why the sunroof stopped working, checked the wiring in the door hinge all seems OK checked all the fuses in fuse box under the bonnet, all seemed OK, unclipped the control panel in the roof and checked the wiring, then I operated the sunroof manually with the Allen key to see if it made any difference all to no avail. What else should I try. I there a separate relay for the sunroof alone,or a fuse some where else maybe.
Any help would be appreciated

What year and type of car here - then I can help you thru the schematics on this one...
Is it an ordinary (button) type or the preselect (dial) type ?Paul Nugent

OK - with reference to this - http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/D/D37.PDF - its for MY92 but eminently usable...
Thermal fuse S83 is a candidate alright (as Johne said). That J245 relay controller is actually integrated with the motor assembly. If you pop open the cover for the sunroof motor (where the hand crank is) you can disconnect it via a single 5-pin plug then a few screws removes it - only do this with sunroof fully closed.
That 5-pin plug has four active wires I can see - labelled 1-2-4-5 on the schematic with other denominations on J245. This means pin 3 on the plug should be empty.
With ignition off, check that you see 12V between pins 4 (red/black) and 2 (brown). If you do that means the thermal fuse is alive.
Then with ignition on, check you see 12V between pins 1 (blue/black) and 2. That proves feed on Fuse 12 is OK.
NEXT - you need to lash up some cable and a 30A fuse to apply directly to the 2-pin connector on the sunroof motor from a 12V power supply. This is the 2-pin blue and purple wires you'll see. One polarity turns it clockwise, tother anticlock - that'll prove your motor hasn't seized up and a problem exists in the switch.
Theres other tedious tests for the switch which I'll get to if necessary - I have all the data in front of me here. Lets see how you get on - may not need this yet.

Ihave taken the motor of and and wired it up and it works ok,but there is no power to any of the wires that feed the motor ,so are the fuses or relay if there is one located under the dash if so what are there numbers, because I cannot find anything next to the motor.Comment

sounds to me like blown fuse. Thermal fuses at bottom of aux relay carrier... Wee silver body things.
