vagcom AGAIN

after my recent post about the ebay lead with vagcom,i bought another one..it lasted all of 2 days...so i am back to square 1 ...does anyone know of a good quality one that will not pack in after a few goes?or will i have to bite the bullit and get a proper job from rosstech?
would prefer to get aftermarket one as i allready have the licence info which allows me to use all the functions,but cant keep buying cheap crap..

thats the same one i have been using...it must be ok for part time use,but for everyday usage it is no good...i have had 3 now and the last one bought only on thursday is now knackered ...it says on the test facility in vag com" port ok interface not found!"

i have had mine(alphabid) for about 2 years now and it gets a lot of use(mainly audis but also vw/seat/skoda),i used to have the original ross-tech gear but sold it when i realised that this does the same job for 10% of the price.I have heard of certain cars 'blowing' cables,something to do with the 'k-line' short circuiting the interface.

Both work great Currently using the one from obd2000 with a 2x2 adaptor for my s2 and other old cars and I use the cable from vagproduct.com on newer cars.

Martyn, It could be your ross tech software, My friend had this, use a non ross tech lead and their software it fries it! works as you say a couple of times then shafts it!
Use an older version of the ross tech and its fine.

i have been using the software on the cd together with a crack code for the licence..is this right or should i download from ross tech?or is it the licence crack?

I have found that some of these cables does not work with never version of Vagcom.
Try version 3.11N.
