Thanks John ill take a look into that.
Indicator/Hazard problem?

Just got my car after having the front bumper fitted. Now the indicators are working again but i have a strange problem with the lights/brake lights. The computer is saying a bulb has gone on my brake lights but they are working although one is very dim. But when i turn my lights on the brake light stops working, but the lights work. The computer then tells me both the brake light and normal light are not working!!! Sounds to me as though it must be the circuit board for the lights what do u think?3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

You've got christmas tree lights syndrome, how appropriate
Yes, the's a bad ground or connection in the rear light cluster.Comment

Just to add a bit on an old thread, i have just had this problem and to test the stalk i switched off the ignition and put the indicator up then down to try the parking lights and each side came on independantly which must mean that the stalk selector is ok. I opened the rear clusters, there is no corrosion and no water, but when i moved the wires the indicators started working as they are supposed to. Tomorrow in the daylight i'll clean the contactsEverything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.--:Albert EinsteinComment

This problem keeps on rearing its ugly head and its p1551ng me off. I removed the stalks and checked the pin to plug contacts all look good, i started to strip the stalk down but could feel some springs getting ready to launch into orbit. (does anyone have a pic of the inside of the indicator stalk to i can see what is in there.) I have removed the rear lighting clusters and cleaned them up the boards look like new still, re-sealed the lights. With electrical cabinet sealinf foam---a brilliant solution which sticks to the bodywork but not the lights and is water tight, so they are easily removable. Any other suggestions--I also have a toad ai606 operating the flashers for arm and disarm, i stripped the siren and it is brand new shiny clean inside. I'm suspecting indicator stalk but they still work the parking lights which indicates the L/R function is working or am i wrong.

Mine is still intermittant althought my rear light clusters do look a bit corroded and could do with replacing. I have not changed the indicator stallk yet but at the moment they are working. I would be interested in the final solution if u ever find one. Ill have a go at changing the indicator stalk.3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

Thanks to Acidburn and his guide i fitted a new indicator stalk. But sill i am having the problems of the Hazards coming on when the indicator is turnt on. It does not always happen though any other suggestions??? I hate these little problems! I have changed the passenger side rear circuit board still waiting for the drivers side one to come up on ebay. Could it be a bad eath or something?3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

Anyone Please
Just cleaned all the contacts and still no joy. This maybe a coincidence or im imagining things but if you disarm the alarm and the indicators flash it seems to trigger the problem, but sometimes when you disarm it the indicators dont flash and they seem fine! Any more ideas?

d@mn didn't know you was still after the circuit boards, me and sal found a pair up at his and I did mention a while ago you was after some but he's now gone abroad. The audipartz guy has some now, he's just got some new cars in, I can find out tommorow if you want.
Also change your hazard switch and try that, I know of a couple of cars which had problems with the hazard switches, you can pick up a switch from ebay for a couple of quid or just borrow one from someone, sounds like an earthing problem somewhere in the system.
also i'll have to meet up sometime and give you a hand with your heater matrix

The alarm sounds like it has a problem, either a wire has been damaged or is touching something it should not, is it a professional setup or home wired one?Anyone Please

I'd try and find the switch off on it or the disabling/valet mode and try that first off, another option is to find the fuse and remove that see if it helps.Comment

Thanks mate yeah once i have sold my car and got a bit more cash ill be gong through everything i want to get done. What fuse shall i be looking for? Where would it take the feed for them to flash when u arm and disarm it?3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

My problem seems to have (for now) dissapeared, and as you say when i activate the alarm it is normally 2 short flashes to disarm, but when the fault was happening it was one long continuous flash. I done the checks on the Ai606 for water ingress and it was spotless inside.Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.--:Albert EinsteinComment

Seems the same with me graham. Ill try and take a look at the alarm although i dont have a real clue of what to look for.3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

After reading a thread on audifans.net i have taken out fuse 19. This seems to have cured the problem although no central locking. What can be the cause of this then? I have a sigma cat 1 aftermarket alarm fitted but i also have the factory alarm that plays up. Can this be the cause? Any ideas on disabling or cutting the power the factory alarm?3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips
