HELP!! - it's Central locking again!!!

    Help!

Been following old threads by NEWSH and S2 ANT and seem to have reached the limit of my understanding!!! (quite quickly)

Central locking not working at all - all locks working independently on key.

Have got to the point of checking all actuators - seem ok and now looking at the controller.

Same as NEWSH it seems the compressor motor is getting +/- 12v when i operate a door lock actuator but motor does not run to create pressure/vaccum.

Car has orginal factory alarm still in it somewhere and an aftermarket Clifford alarm - everything USED to work fine either manually lock/unlock or using key fob but stopped working a few months back.

Has the motor been inhibited in some way or is it simply knackered?

Not sure about NEWSH's finding of getting right voltage but not enough current - understand the theory but not sure what to check next!!

    Thoughts?

See if you can hardwire 12V onto the compressor... with some fused cable to the battery - the compressor should suck when the wiring is one polarity and blow when the other polarity. If it doesn't run at all then there is your problem. You should of course hear the compressor run when wired up.

Sure sounds like a duff compressor by reading what you have said so far - but you need to isolate the compressor in case the alarm(s) are interfering with things.

Many thanks for the prompt reply........i just love this forum!!!!

Just back from trying 12v straight from battery to terminals on the circuit board - is this a good enough test - surely the motor should run or do i need to disconnect fully from the board?

If the compressor is knackered then i see one from an A4/A6/A3 for sale on the bay - £95 or best offer......yikes but is this as good a bet as i'm likely to find???
