    Reverse Lights

The reverse lights on my S2 Coupe is not working. I had a look and the bulbs are fine as are all the fuses. That implies (I guess ) that it is the reverse sensor.

Please help - how do I get to it (it looks like it is on the driver's side of the gearbox but I can't see a way to get it out) and how do I test it once it is out?

I don't know how to get to it I'm afraid. The unit will be a switch which I feel should have 2 wires ( in and out). To test the unit press the plunger in and see if you get a contact across the wires. This is done using a multimeter ( AVO). If you don't have one et one , they are only a few pounds but are very helpful for all manner of tests. If you can get at the wires I would suggest purtting the car in reverse and check that you have continuity across them.

If you have 12v in and 12v out then it is the wiring going to the reversing lights. If there is no 12V to the switch then you ned to find why.

If you have then the supply to the switch needs to be ch

Not sure about the S2 but I've had reverse light problems on a few quattros, normally a problem with the wiring breaking down on the top of the gearbox, sometimes it wears through and shorts so every time you go into reverse the fuse blows.
