I have asked the owner of the red S2 with the S8 wheels about it.
They are Avus wheels from a S8, 8x18 ET 48 with 225/40-18 tyres. In front, 15 mm spacers are used, so now an ET of 33. At the back 20 mm spacers are used, so now an ET of 28.
The RS4 'rivet' hub caps need to be adjusted a little to fit.

If anybody is interested, a little birdie tells me that the Lupo GTI wipers are now available in the UK again, and the price does not appear to have gone up!

          Hello,
I'm very pleased to see the comments on my S2, the red one with Aero wipers and 18" S8 wheels.
Meanwhile I've changed the spacers: in front they are now 20mm, at the rear they are 25mm, both bolted on separatly to the hubs. Now they perfectly fit under the bodywork.

As for the aero wipers: I used two Lupo GTI wiper arms, a Lupo and a Passat wiperblade.
Partnumbers and prices as they are in Belgium:
          wiper arm 6X1 955 410A @ 35€/piece
          wiper blade 1J1 955 425A @ 15€
          wiper blade 1J1 955 426A @ 15€
          adaptor 3B7 955 205 @ 4€/piece in case the wiper doesn't fit the arm
Wiper arms need slight adjustment (bending in the horizontal plane, to get the proper angle to the lower windscreen edge)
The left arm tends to scuff to the plastic cover, to prevent this I slobbed the hole in the aluminum bracket, so that the axle can be pushed up at its maximum.

On my car the result is excellent, but I don't know wether this solution suites for a RHD car.

          Peter

Ignore me - I just read the previous posts - doh :wacked:

              ET28 at front
              ET23 at rear

There is no way my front wheels at ET40 would ever fit at ET28 - they rubbed on the wing at ET35 !

I don't think ET numbers can be trusted - have to try the wheels.

                Doug,
Beside the rim, also the tyre make/shape influences whether the wheels touch the wheelarches/bodyor not.
                I'm driving Conti SportContact 225/40-18.
On the right side, when the suspension is at the bumpstop and the wheel is slightly turned, the tyre touches the inner mudguard (I need to heat it and form it a little). My S2 has standard suspension, if lowered, it is likely to become more problematic.
                regards,
                Peter

On the subject of aero wipers. I've got all the bits to convert mine over. Look out for a BTDT coming soon.

                    PAH!

Beat you to it! fitted the Lupo aero wipers today. A few things.. if you want the very low hidden look, then you have to use two wiper arms of the same side! (left hand sides) ie NOT 1 left and 1 right! this gets them very low, cannot see them from inside the car, just see them from outside the car.

The Lupo blades are about an inch shorter, but this doesn't appear to be a problem, they wipe plenty of glass. By getting the arms this low on the screen, you can no longer lift them fully up, as if to wash the screen, they hit the bonnet. You can lift them up a few inches, enough to wash the car. If you want to be able to lift the arms up totally, then you'll have to fit two right hand side wiper arms, the right hand arms sit higher up the screen, I guess its down to what you prefer...

They wipe superbly! a lot better than stock blades! don't know about wind noise yet, haven't tried them. Pretty neat stuff! Will have to see if there is an aero blade a little bit longer for the drivers side so you get maximum screen wipe as per the old wipers, but as I said, they wipe a big enough area not to really worry about it.

I've heard that arms from the latest Audi A6 suit the coupe and they use the new style blade (rubber only). I guess I´'ll go for them some day.

Also I really like those S8 18" Avus wheels on the red coupe as they look almost indentical to the standard 6 spoke S2 avus just bigger.

Does anyone know if they were ever fitted to the S8 in the UK or where I might look for a set?

I'm pretty sure that these are the wheels that Greg has on his car. And they did indeed come off an S8.

The only difference is that they look even hotter on Gregs car.

                                Thanks for the compliment alps

The wheels on my car are infact the later style avus wheels as fitted to the new S Cars. there 17" instead of 18" though and came off of a 2001 S6.

Think the other ones are off the early style S8's.
