Not since the inlet camshaft had the gear removed from it to turn the dissy... This changed occurred shortly after introduction of the AAN engine, but the ABY and ADU never had it. Wonder how many 'specialists' can find out the date and engine number of that design change without searching this forum for the answer...

Admittedly there are a lot of clueless ********* on 'max power' stylee web forums so maybe we get tarred with the same brush, but this attitude of ignoring suggestion from 'amateurs' on a web forum is so short sighted and plain rude actually when they don't take the time to look around and see the skills on show here.

Did they think a dozen people suggested hall sensor by some random guess? A test on that device takes about 5 ****ing minutes if you know what to do with an oscilloscope or can wire up a fricking LED the right way round... but then that would make it too hard for the 'professional' to bluff a ******** story up into 2.5hrs labour of 'diagnostics' to stroke you at 90 quid per hour plus VAT.

Of course, none of the professional garages will ever send messages to me or anyone else to thank them for free information that has been provided online over the years - along with wiring diagrams, detailed system descriptions and whatever else. Oh yeah, we are just amateurs who know ****all... I forgot !

All I can say that is a SPOT ON evaluation!!!!!!! Nice one Paul!

Before I frequented these forum's I have been absolutely creamed by so called "specialists" who, it has subsequently been established by me and info gained (especially S2forum), they new fook all!!

I too had a similar experience with my S2 and guess what it was? Yes, Hall Sender!!!

(However, my car wouldn't start at all, and it did show up on Vagcom)

This Forum literally saved me THOUSANDS on my S2. Well done folks! I know who I'd believe!

        Knight Rider S4... PM sent

Though annoyingly my car has now improved.

Returned from a 30 miles trip and thought I'd sit for 5 mins on idle, let the engine get nice and toasty.

The fans kicked in at just over 90 and I thought that if the Hall Sensor is going to overheat and stop working then surely that should of done it, but no, fired up first time!

Anyway, not replacing anything yet, will give it time.

Paul, A perfect example of an accurate and warranted rant!!
