Brief description, when turning on the indicators with the stalk or the hazard warning stalk the relay clicks on/off very fast. bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt noise and no flashing lights. However the alarm does flash all four lights so the wiring & bulbs are ok. I bought a new relay and it made no difference.
From relay under dash there are three wires, brown, black/red, and green/white/black. Brown is earth, black/red is power in and the other is the output. From + & - I get 12 volts. But NO current, i.e. will not light a light bulb. (Would explain why the relay clicks on/off furiously)
Using the + (red/blk) and an earth from the battery is the same, however using + from the battery and the - (brown) wire it does light the bulbs. Therefore I’m thinking the power to the relay is the problem.
Next step I pulled the fuse for it under the bonnet in the fuse box, 25amp I think, looked fine, stuck it back in and everything starting working fine. ...for a little while then died again.
Checked all fuse’s, relays, and cable connections to the fuse box which made no difference.
Q time, I assume the + to the relay (red/blk) comes from the fuse box, then through the indicator stalk, and then into the relay? ....so would it be a correct assumption the indicator stalk is at fault??
Thanks,
Mark.
P.S. If I’m missing something obvious please shout.
