ok to solder connections on battery cable?

I need to make up a new power cable from battery to fuse board. Will be using 25mm2 cable and wanted to re-use the terminals off my existing cable - is it ok to solder and heat shrink the connections given the high current etc?

I only know enough about electrics to fill a postage stamp

    .

Soldering that size may prove difficult, cant you get a crimp terminal fitted...most decent car auto/audio places should be able to do it.

          .

Can you open out the 'terminal' and re-crimp your new wire?

          Piccies.

yep. for huge gauge cable I use crimp lugs like the one posted above. crimp, then heat with a blowtorch until the solder flows in, then pack it with solder. cover with heat shrink. failproof connection.
