But I don't want to lose the ability to flash, it's needed far too often on motorway cruises to remind people they're still in the outside lane So it's just a decision as to whether to go 35W slimline vs 55W fatty ballasts. Do those who've had these still need to perform the K-pin mod?
I've not done the K-pin mod on either the S2 or the A6.
I had one set of cheapy China ballasts fitted a couple of years ago that caused my bulb out warning when first switching on, but it then went off after a couple of seconds so I lived with it.
HIDS4U sets haven't caused it this time.
I do have a spare relay with the K-pin mod done to it you can have, if you don't fancy modding yours??

With normal Halos no poinnt using main beam with HIDs, but my mate has some proper hi-los on his T5 and the difference on main beam is immense, rabbits and other critters caught in the lights melt into a pool of furry sludge by the roadside

Is there any good reason other than being Vain to change the High Beam lights to HIDS?

I've never found any issue with the main beam

these would match the hids when you use mains, maybe a touch too blue though.

If you run H4s you can have a solenoid flash

You're right, they don't particulaly like being switched on and off.
The main downer here, is that you lose the ability to flash your lights.
Before HID fitting, on ellipsoids, when you flash your lights (pull back on stalk) both the main and dipped beam light up. Fit HID's to the dipped and they don't flash anymore, just the mains flash. Fit HID's to the mains and bye bye flash

Also noticed they have options for main and dipped albeit the same kits. I had always been of the understanding only a car that uses the same bulb for dip/beam were suitable for bi-xenon as the constant switching on/off would kill the ballasts quickly. Any experiences here??

The 35W slimline on dips with 55W beams would be awesome

    Thanks for the recommendations guys

I'm thinking 35W slimline H1 kit with 5,000K. Next trick will be to find some LED side lights to match... wonder if it's too late to get a stocking filler

I've bought a bunch of stuff from Autobulbs Direct in the past and HIDs4you are related to them, http://www.hids4u.co.uk/home.php

They're offering a 2 year warranty, cant be bad..

Agree with Jas above. Although I bought mine in the USA they are the same as the ones sold by hids4u.co.uk. I have ballasts with no separate earths. The kit came with everything required and was a fairly straightforward install. I have got H1's, 6000k, they pick up anything with hi-vis (especially road signs) from 1000's of yards away and aren't too blinding to other drivers.
