Look at the back of the ignition switch. You'll prob find 2 wires have been cut and spliced into, cut the spliced on wires off and reconnect the original wires. You may have something similar down at the plug to the ecu too, just reconnect the wires that have been broken into.
I used to have a starting problem on my ur quattro which turned out to be a hidden immob switch in the cubby hole under the dash which was wired to break the line to the fuel pump, it had been done with Scotchlocks

No it an,t.Please be a bit more careful than cutting wires.First you need to find the alarm main unit. You,ll need to remove all the tape so you can see all the wires from the main unit.Follow all wire to it,s end.See what it dose then before you start cutting wires, Remove the battery. Also when tracing all the wire you may find a broken wire and that maybe the problem. Some wire will tee in to the cars loom and some will have been cut so you,ll have to solder them back together get some heatshrink to make a good job off it and if you don,t solder the wire it,ll only bite you on the *** one day so do it well and do it once. I hope this helps or you could pay someone to sort or remove and fit a new one with your christmas money.all the best.
