Took the coupe out tonight, first thing I notice as I shift into second, no speedo. Its not stuck on the face as it has plasmas. the rest of the cluster seems to be working ok so I guess its not a fuse.

Tried smacking the dash, no go. Will check the odo.Comment

Odometer is still working so the problem must be in the cluster, I'll try the spare one I have in the garageComment

Ours does this a couple of times a year, all I do is press the small (I believe) fuel gauge calibration button. It must just exert pressure on a PCB dry joint or something, because it works fine again for months.85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep

Had this one intermittently before as well, when the odometer was also not working.
Giving the connectors into the instrument cluster a good clean and making sure they were all clicked in correctly seemed to fix the problem, at least i've not had it happen since.S2Forum.com AdministratorComment

I've had this several times, Both times fixed by stripping clocks, and resoldering connector plug from loom to clocks, Been brokes solder joint both times as I couls see it. A good time to replace the bulbs while you are at it
