S2 Electrical Woes Go On And On

    Hiya guys
After just posting on electric window gremlins, the car has a New problem today.

Turn on the ignition and it pops number ( 12 ) 15 amp fuse and all dask gauges including lower oil/amp gauges all go off with no power to anything??

Replace the fuse and turn the ignition on again and its setting the alarm and closing the door buttons then after a short while it will blow the fuse again???

Has anyone any experience here on what the heck is going on???

    Cheers in advance

You have a short circuit somewhere... something protected by that fuse is drinking too much current and blowing the fuse. Could be a component failure or frayed wires that are touching where they shouldnt.

What year / type is the car and I can get you a list of all possible paths for Fuse 12 - then you have to just isolate them one at a time until you find the root cause. Not complex but can be time consuming.

FOund your other thread stating 1991 3B and I just happen to have that sitting beside me !!!

      Fuse 12
      - via T8e into F4 reverse light switch to the reverse lamps... could be problem in rear loom with frayed insulation and/or water ingress
      - via T8f to power the MFTS (if you have an active 4-pin jobbie)
      - via T5k (green plug) to the servotronic controller
      - into the voltage regulator on the cluster via BLUE plug behind dash
      - via J140 for interior light delay
      - J124 for rear bulb monitoring
      - front foglight switch
      - rear foglight switch
      - powers auxiliary gauges

Its a black/blue wire that comes to all of the above. Good luck with the search.
